For the first time since the event’s establishment in 1990, the World Congress on Art Deco is returning to the Magic City! Miami photographer and local creative Alex Marrero shares the details:
Alex Marrero, Miami native and creative known for his photography projects showcasing the stories of small businesses in the Magic City, is ecstatic to share that the 16th World Congress on Art Deco will be converging for their annual event in Miami this year! Starting on April 18th and continuing thru April 30, 2023, Miami Design Preservation League, Art Deco Society and the International Coalition of Art Deco Societies will welcome guests to the grandest annual celebration of the art deco community. This year’s theme is Modernism – Florida’s Hidden Treasures. In a variety of exhibits, photography showcases, art exhibitions, concerts, costume balls, parties and so much more, guests will celebrate the Magic City’s deep-rooted connections to the art deco movement. Marrero looks forward to attending this event with camera in-hand! He will be sure to capture photos at all of the lectures, guided tours and other art deco centric events. The Photographer’s itinerary is loaded up with activities for the Pre-Congress, Congress and Post-Congress tiers of this convergence of art, culture and architecture. He eagerly awaits the chance to add new pictures of the event to his growing photography portfolio of art, culture and design in Miami. This will be Marrero’s second art deco event added to his schedule of Art Events in Miami in 2023, following the 46th Annual Art Deco Weekend.
